In collaboration with the CBME Faculty Development Committee, the CBME Office offers faculty development events for Program Directors, CBD Leads, Competence Committee Chairs, Academic Coaches, Program Administrators, and Resident Leads. We encourage Program Directors to recommend 2-3 faculty who may support faculty development in their programs to attend.

Academic Coaching Over Time - May 17, 2024 Watch Now

Drs. Jonel Miklea, Siraj Mithoowani, Catharine Munn, Spencer Van Mils, and Heather Whittingham provide participants with a deeper understanding of the crucial relationship between an academic coach and a learner. By exploring fundamental principles, effective coaching techniques, and new approaches informed by concepts of motivational interviewing, participants have the opportunity to build on their foundational skills and develop new strategies they can apply in their role as an academic coach.

Coaching & Feedback in the Moment - April 29, 2024 Watch Now

Drs. Dillon Horth and Meera Luthra offer a ‘Coaching and Feedback in the Moment’ workshop to review the role and responsibilities of the clinical supervisor who provides resident trainees competency-focused coaching and feedback in the clinical setting. This workshop reviews principles and models of coaching, and strategies for providing effective coaching and feedback in the moment.

Curriculum & Assessment Mapping - March 5, 2024 Watch Now

Mapping your EPAs to the clinical and non-clinical resident training experiences and considering how they will be assessed is a critical component of your transition to CBD. During this workshop, Drs. Jessica Huynh, Ipshita Kak, and Val Mueller present different mapping templates and will walk you through the mapping process while considering efficiencies in your program of assessment. Participants map their program EPAs to key learning experiences across the curriculum, ensuring opportunities for observation and focused teaching.

This discussion forum will guide participants through the processes of identifying the requirements of a Competence Committee across structure, function, and process. Participants will also be introduced to a new Competence Committee Checklist and strategies to ensure an efficient deliberation process.
