CBME RETREAT 2022
The 2022 CBME Retreat on Nov. 9th was a success as we achieved our goals of coming together to discuss programmatic assessment in CBD, understand the urgent problems relating to assessment and resident burden, and to collaboratively identify strategies to solve.
Our key note speaker, Dr. Nancy Dudek, started the day and set the context for engaging discussion and problem-solving. Presentation of national, institutional, and resident survey data informed the working groups. The participants, a mix of Program Directors, CBD Leads, Competence Committee Chairs, Academic Coaches, Program Administrators, education leads, and a very engaged group of residents addressed 8 pressing problems, 5 things to stop doing in CBD and 5 things to start doing recommended by the Royal College’s national evaluation working group. Our own Resident Experience Survey data was shared to bring forward the voice of our residents to discussions.
The Retreat was the impetus to move quality improvement efforts forward at the PG and program level. Informed by data and the input of those in key roles, the CBME Evaluation Committee will work with all CBME Committees and programs to affect positive shifts to a competency-based curriculum and the outcomes we collectively strive to achieve for our residents.
