Expandable List

During the training sessions, participants were able to ask a series of questions related to MedSIS. We’ve collected those questions and responses below for your convenience.

Q. Will we be able to consider an EPA score of 4 to be marked as successfully complete? (Currently, and it’s been for awhile, CCs can accept 4 scores in combination with all of the available data when reviewing resident status and making progression decisions).

A. Currently, and it’s been for awhile, CCs can accept 4 scores in combination with all of the available data when reviewing resident status and making progression decisions

Q. Is assessment of some milestones still mandatory for each EPA?

A. As you know, milestones inform the overall EPA assessment, are in essence sub skills and are mapped to the intrinsic roles. They offer important information about trainee performance so we encourage them to be completed, but this is not mandatory for a supervisor to submit the form. What is completed is captured in the system, are graphed, and they are included in the Learner Summary Report for quick learner review. Some CC Chairs have shared they ‘unpack’ the EPA and look at the milestones when trying to identify why/where a trainee is challenged or delayed.

Q. Will we be able to manually mark an entire EPA as complete (our residents complete an ultrasound block that satisfies the requirements for our Core 14 EPA)?

A. An EPA can be marked as achieved in a drop down menu.

Q. Does the EPA report that can be generated for a specific time period also include global assessments?

A. The Learner Summary Report rolls up CBD Forms 1-4, ITARS and WBAs.
